Julie You do need a male tree to fertilize the female and he can "help" quite a few ladies at once - the bees transfer the pollen across; you can get bisexual trees but I don't think they are as good. Pawpaws need a warm climate and someone riding constant shotgun to keep off the possums and flying foxes.

I would love a yard where I could try my hand at these. I wonder if one needs a male tree and a female tree? Or are bees in the area sufficient.
