Happy Mother's Day!
Breakfast was made for me this morning by my 13 year old daughter. It's 2 pancakes with jam in the middle and icing sugar on top!
(Luckily for her there were plenty of off-cuts to eat. Unluckily for her dad there's a pile of washing up)

Applying The Brakes
It's been a hard decision for me to make but I've decided to stop posting daily.
A big thank-you to everyone who has visited here over the years and to all your words of encouragement. Without them I would have stopped all this blogging lark ages ago.
The blog will remain active, though, and I'll post every now and then.... so feel free to swing by from time to time.

Let The Wild Rumpus Begin!
Ah, the joys of learning a new instrument.
Have you ever been up close to someone playing one or two long notes loudly on the trombone? It sounds similar to a foghorn and your head vibrates...I think she was laughing because I had gone cross-eyed. And a beginner blowing through the reed on a clarinet can produce squeaks that will make your hair stand on end.
The bottom photo is my daughter and the top one is her friend and they have both been playing for about 2 weeks. I expect to see them busking in Boundary Street in a few years. In the meantime, if you are in about a 2 mile radius of that trombone when it's being blown then you'll get a bit of a preview.

Mothers' Day
I don't like to dwell too much on the down side to my little family's emigration to Brisbane from London back in 2005. So many positive things have come out of it but... I really miss my mum!
Happy Mothers' Day to everyone out there and especially to those whose mothers can't be with them.

Work In Progress
I suppose it's not strictly a Brisbane photo as I took it in India when I was there in August... but the little hand belongs to a Brisbane resident who might one day grow up to be an artist... just like her Grandmother.
