Bookshop Window

It was the yellow bike reflection I was after but I ended up getting the silver ute and a bit of me in there too. This is Bent Books in West End

Today I'm taking part in Weekend Reflections.

Through The Window Skywatch

I caught the 199 back to West End the other day
Settled down in a window seat
Excellent for people watching
Or nice-house spotting.
But on this particular afternoon
The streets were eerily quiet
And the houses were cloaked in winter shadows
The sky didn't want any distractions
So I set about giving it my full attention.

Through The Window

Oblivious I was
Despite my many, contemplative visits
To the forces of nature
Present in the room

To the webbing and vining
And careful intertwining
To the sweet and slow surrender
Of this window to the elements

I was always in such a rush, you see
To leave and get back to my friends
That when I noticed it first
I was half way out the door

I stopped in my tracks
And sighed to myself.
You only get the vista
If you are a mista.

Through The Window

through the window
through the passionfruit vine curtain
the early morning eastern sun
peeps over our building
warming the tops of the trees
green with a hint of orange

through the boughs of the scant jacaranda
the african tulip is exploding with flowers
crows find something to shout about
then lose interest and mutter under their breath instead
rainbow lorikeets chatter excitedly like kids in a playground
except noisier

time to wake up
the distant sound of the Citycat on the river
and the buses at the terminus
purring and chugging
in readiness for the day
and those other, more muted, early birds

Merivale Street From Melbourne Street

The hexagonal mesh on the windows of the CityGlider bus is great for taking pictures through.
