Mirror Ball At Night

I went down to South Bank again last night in the hopes of capturing the laser show reflected in the big mirror ball. Unfortunately the ball is a little bit too far away from the action but it is lit from underneath in light that changes colour every few seconds.

I'm off camping in the Bunya Mountains for a few days so hopefully posting will continue while I'm away. Back next week!

Cara, I love it!! I had been hoping you would be able to photograph that mirror ball at night. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It's a gorgeous picture - the mirror ball itself is lit in blue light, and the images in it are also lit. You chose the exact right time to snap this pic.

That mirror ball reminds me in a way of a sculpture we have here in Chicago named "Cloud Gate", but is slangily known by the citizens here as "The Bean". It's a huge piece made by Anish Kapoor and it's shaped similarly to a kidney bean. It's polished to a mirror bright finish and it reflects the sky (clouds) and the buildings around it.

It would be wonderful if your mirror ball could stay as an outdoor sculpture all the time instead of only for this Festival. I'm sure it would be a favorite place for locals and tourists alike.

Great shot Cara, you have been posting some brilliant snaps of late. Please post some pics of the Bunya Mts, I was there a decade ago and the forest it is a magical place, great significance to the Aboriginal peoples of Sth QLD and Nth NSW. I have special memories of taking my 3 yr old (now 13) on the horse and cart tour.

That is a completely gorgeous photos. My daughter and little granddaughter arrive early tomorrow morning from Berlin and I was thinking I may take them to see this tomorrow evening as it's the last night of the festival, I believe. Now I know that I MUST take them, no matter how jetlagged they are! Timely posting - thanks!
