Spring at last! The weather has really improved over the last week. Temperatures are in the mid twenties, it's really sunny and there are buds and blooms everywhere. These flowers are growing on the pavement on my street. There are white, lilac and purple flowers all on the one plant and they smell AMAZING! Someone once told me they were forgetmenots... I always thought they were blue. What do you think?

It's common name is Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (for the 3 different coloured flowers on the bush at the same time) botanic name is Brunsfelsia bonodora. It was one of my late grandmother's favourites, and I have it in my garden, grown from a cutting she gave me. Beautiful.
I don't recognize the flower Cara but the colour is gorgeous and I can imagine would add a dash of colour to any street!
I've just returned from the far north of your state where it was a beautiful 27 degrees every day!
Yes, this is certainly a fabulous plant BUT it's also highly toxic - especially to dogs!
Check it out on Google!
It's definitely not forget-me-not (the Alaskan national flower), but they're beautiful.
It's a good Spring sign is what it is.
There was a massive tree of it next door to me; until last year when my old neighbour sold the unit/townhouse and new people moved in. The wife got the tree chopped down and the stump ground out! It was horrible! There was no longer a beautiful tree there with lovely flowers; nor the lovely scent they put off on the breeze; just their dreadfully strong 'Apple Fresh' clothes softener... blech!
Yes, HM is correct in her naming of it, and Mrs Santa is correct in saying it is toxic to dogs (I had no idea until I looked it up)
(from Burke's backyard fact sheet on google):
Downside:
The brown berries have been known to poison dogs. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, muscle tremors, staggering and seizures. If you have a dog, remove the berries every year.
Supurb shots - pity there is no perfume drifting over the webasphere!!
Lucky you having spring colors and smells around. Beautiful shots.
I knew the name YTT, and that it is not a FGMN. But did not know it was poisonous to dogs. It is a gorgeous plant.
Wow what a response - thanks everyone! You're all so clever!
Yes, they're Yesterday Today & Tomorrow & their scent is gorgeous but as Mrs Santa said they're extremely poisonous. A friend's dog died a terrible death after having chewed on the branches they'd cut off whilst doing some pruning. All of the internal organs shut down.
We have some of these on our front path, along with loads of azaleas currently in full bloom so it all looks magical.
I had been told they were called 'Morning, Noon and Night' - never heard of 'Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow'! Must be one of those plants with lots of common/colloquial names.
I just love their scent in any case. When I catch it, it always makes me stop and breathe, and and remember how lovely it is living in my flat in West End in spring time when everything is all rich and new and colourful.
