The Movement Spreads
It's been a big deal in Rural Queensland for quite some time but the anti-coal seam gas movement's trademark "Lock The Gate" signs are now cropping up in Brisbane. The crux of the matter is that the government are set to make billions of dollars extracting gas from underground... a nice little earner, that's for sure... and they've even promised a huge chunk of the profits to schools. By the way - cheers, Phil/Nell for this photo.

I like the "Frack Off" and Get Fracked" signs. when will we learn to stop destroying the land that sustains us. There is so much potential for renewables in this country.

Love this photo. It really captures the feeling of Brisbane beautifully - the sign, the house, the water tank, the banana trees & lush vegetation, the city in the background.
CSG does not get my tick either. I would prefer to have a lower standard of living.
Has the extraction started in OZ yet?
They're trying to get some exploration work done here (30 km from Avignon) but even that is meeting strong resistance. I hope they get nowhere.
