Gwen In Purgatory

Dedicated to my friend Gwen who recently became more familiar with Robina train station than she might have preferred.

Don't just leave it at that, enquiring minds want to know. Its supposed to be an excellent play although I didn't get to see it.

For Ann and other enquiring minds, it happens that Gwen lives out in the sticks a bit. Last weekend she got a lift to another out-of-the-way property for a party. If you were the proverbial flying crow, it would be less than 10kms away but driving is 3 hours and public transport is... anyone's guess. On the way home, we dropped her off in Beenleigh where she had a mere 20 minutes before the train came to take her to Robina...then only a half an hour on the train. Things were looking rosy. When she got to Robina, her next-door neighbour was getting off the same train - did she want a lift? Nooonono she was fine - all organised - another friend is giving her a lift... wave goodbye see you later, 10 minutes later her other friend calls to say his car won't start! Not enough money in her pocket for a cab, too much luggage to hitch-hike, no friends answering her calls... the heavens open and she sits on her luggage in the pouring rain and starts laughing like a loony.
Eventually someone answered her SOS texts and took her back home - late but still chuckling. It was her birthday too!
