Golden Orb Weaver
This warm time of year in Brisbane is ideal for spiders and one of the city's most prolific is the Golden Orb Weaver. They are great and that is coming from a complete wimp from London. The best thing about them is that they just hang out in their webs which are usually thoughtfully constructed above or to the side of paths and roads. They don't jump out at you unexpectedy or come in your house and look at you while you sleep or kill you. They just hang out - outside. The female (like the one shown here) grows up to 10cms and the male is about 5 mm which must make for an interesting love life.

Spiders are fun to photograph. This is a beauty.
Seems a typical measurement for a male, Cara.
This is a beautiful macro, I'v tried to photograph like this but have never even come close.

Great image. I Miss Australia!
Like the one I walked around on my back verandah just now to take a photo of the gum trees in the rain!
