This is the aptly named "drift" restaurant in Milton. After being Oxley's on the River for years, new management took over only a few months ago. It prided itself on being "Brisbane's Best New Restaurant". The dramatic images and videos of it breaking up, heading down the river and crashing into a bridge have become iconic.Click here to see it on the move.
I went down there last night and had a look around. It's looking very sad.
Evidence of the destruction is all over the bike path and the restaurant itself has been torn apart and now lies open to the elements...
I'd say those cleaners have had their work cut out for them.
They've got a huge task ahead of them.

Gosh, that's funny. I wondered what all the fuss had been about that place as I drove along Coronation Drive late yesterday afternoon, and saw it all there still. For some unknown reason I thought the whole thing had disappeared into the flood waters! Yes, it is a bit of a mess when you get down there and have a close look, isn't it?
The photo of the gloves is brilliant. I was home sick that day and spent quite a lot of it watching footage of Drift float down the river.
Glad you posted this as I thought the whole thing had been washed away.
How terrible for the new owners.
I read in the paper today that volunteers had cleaned up the bit that broke away.
I am not sure they should bother too much really as I read that the new owners were not insured. I wonder how true that is. I notice AB got down and durty in the West End today.
Cara, your documentary is outstanding. I saw this floating jetty crashing into the bridge on video before, yes it's famous in Europe too. And now you give me all the background details.
I guess they did not know how apt the name would become. Good to see the clean up carries on apace. Love the multi coloured mops
