No Pressure

This is two dads on Boxing Day morning,  perhaps after a one or two festive beers the night before, constructing a complicated trampoline in the boiling sun with 6 children watching their every move ...and advice from the gallery too.

They did a fantastic job - it took about two hours - and the kids were over the moon.

Narnia

I was busy taking photos out the front of Box Vintage when the guy who runs it invited me to have a look at the walls in the back yard... brushing past the faux-fur coats and maxi-dresses jam-packed in the back room, I emerged into a yard where the walls were adorned with all sorts of spray-painted creatures and characters by different artists. It was bit of a Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe moment.

Earth Hour 2011

The candles were lit and the lights turned off last night at 8.30pm as we attempted another Earth Hour. It was a bit of a failure as the kids were watching Mamma Mia and constructing some robot thingy and they needed light... BUT we turned off most of the lights and gathered four families in one place  and cooked using a BBQ so that's got to be green and energy efficient...right?

Everyday Is Like Sunday

We picked a good time to be without a kitchen. Brisbane is boiling hot and sweaty at the moment, which suits our outdoor kitchen arrangements very nicely indeed. We've got the camping stove set up on the garden table and the Weber for an oven. What you are looking at is a Beer Can Chicken. You open a beer and drink half of it, then you sit an uncooked chicken (innards removed) upside down on the can. Place on the bbq, close the lid and crack open another beer while it cooks. The steam from the beer keeps it moist and because it's standing up it gets browned all over without you having to turn it. For those who like BBQ chicken, it's a marvel! For those who don't drink beer, any liquid in a can will do.

NB. When you slide the cooked chicken off the can of beer, no mater how thirsty you are, don't try and drink what's left.
