Warning: Wet Floor

This house was high and dry but I like the sentiment. And the grass. I have grass envy.

You forgot to mention that the pink sign is being held upright by an empty bottle of Bundy.

That is a very cute design for a house. Immediate post WW2 is my guess ...

Tell me ... I read a comment today from a chap in Brissie who said that people who had not been flooded but who had had their power cut for 48 hours, qualified for the $1,000 emergency relief grant from Canberra. Do you know if this is happening?

That's right. It's a one-off blanket payment regardless of your income or how much property was lost or damaged. You may have had to throw out a few frozen meat pies and buy a few bags of ice... or you could have been like my doctor who had just received a delivery of $10,000 worth of vaccines which all had to be thrown out as the power was out for 5 days there.

I like the way people keep up their sense of humour. Regarding the $1000 dollar relief payment. You only qualify if you earn less than $900 odd dollars a week.
There goes your doctor's chance.

I wonder if the folk in the flooded areas understand that the Premier's Appeal $ are for affected people, whereas the proposed levy (if it eventuates) is for the damaged infrastructure.

People elsewhere (down here, for instance) don't seem to understand. I have read time and again, that people are annoyed that they donated out of the goodness of their heart, and now they are going to be hit up for more money in the form of the levy.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next 12 months. I read today that you need to leave your waterlogged 'structure' to dry out thoroughly, like for months.

I think the media is awash (!) with a bevy of 'ambit' claims. I believe it is called spin ...
