Traffic Stopping Art (number 39)

Here's one of the painted traffic signal boxes outside the fire station on Roma Street. Many of the boxes around Brisbane are site-specific, particularly if they are near a landmark. This one was painted by Mark Makhoul.

If you are interested in Brisbane's painted traffic signal boxes there's an interesting 5 minute film about them here.

Nice one, Cara! For over two years I have been collecting artistic traffic controllers and transformers in Auckland (hope to put a few on my blog in due course). I like the way they brighten up intersections and neighbourhoods. Nice to see your extensive lineup of boxes. Cheers! Thanks also for the youtube link.
