The full moon on Saturday night lit up the Brisbane sky with a giant aura surrounding it. So big that my lens, a foot off the ground at 18mm, could only just fit it in. I've never really noticed these auras before so went online to try and find out more about them but nothing concrete came up. Does anyone have any ideas on what causes this to happen?

This is a beautiful caputure. Great composition and nice color. I'll have to try this. I don't know what causes the aura.
Awesome shot! Beautiful colors and great composition! I've read a few things, but nothing very concrete for me either! Hope you have a great weekend!

Can't help you either, but it is an amazing photo.
Can't help you but the photo is amazing.. I would think it has something to do with atmospheric gases...but that is a guess and based on no actual knowledge at all.. Love your blog, have just found it cheers Katherine

Try MOON HALO, Cara, when you google...you'll find it under there! I saw and photographed a sun halo once...similar thing. Formed by ice crystals..?
I've never seen anything like that.
I have no idea either, but it's awesome!
Happy Friday and happy weekend!
a bit spooky

A coincidence - I was just reading about these a week or so ago, but have never seen one. Your picture is beautiful!

Have a happy weekend :)

Awesome capture, just stunning. It seems the moon last week caught alot of our eyes, I took it too for SWF, but mine was on fire!
