Blooming Chilli Here

The rain we have received in Brisbane these past few days has been really welcome. I mentioned my chilli plants in Friday's post and Julie from Sydney Eye asked for a look - so here is one of them. This is the first delicate little flower... not a hint yet of the tiny edible firework that is going to grow there soon. I shall be making a celebratory indian curry with it (and hopefully a few others).

Hi Cara,

Just saw you in New York City!

But I've never seen one of these beautiful flowers...

Great shot!

Hi Jacob! Lucky me - what was I doing?

This is intruiging: and I am no botanical genius.

But I can see the leaf, and I can see the yellow flower, and I can see the darker pronged thingo inside the yellow flower. Will that be the fruit?

And what about that rounded globule (told you I was not botanist) in the left b/g. Is that another flower about to unfurl. How exciting to have your own ingredients!

Is this a one-off green thumb event or do you have tomatoes and basil and lettuce an' all?

Weren't you out with another blogger taking pictures?

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

As this is my first chilli flower I'm no expert either. I'm not sure how it happens... it's all a bit exciting. You are right - those bulbous ones in the background are a few more in the pipeline too. Unfortunately if recent tomato/capsicum history is anything to go by, the flower is all I get. They just drop off feebly. I have my (not very green) fingers crossed I get past this stage.

Having said all that I've got a nice healthy herb garden and the turmeric's going great guns!

Ah Jacob you must have the wrong gal. I've been here getting rained on in Brizzy!

Uh Oh! Sorry about that!

Well, I can solve that problem, Jacob...it was me (Annie, from Brisbane) who was out and about in NYC taking photos with Daryl...! My photos from the same event will be up soon...I am a bit slower than Daryl at getting them posted.
Just as well I checked in here for a look see at Brisbane a la Cara while I am away, to be able to solve your mystery!
Love that photo of the chili by the way...wonderful, Cara!

This entire conversation is amazing! How wonderful that you all were linked in that sort of Kevin-ish way ...

A herb garden ... containing what ... ?

And tumeric ... isnt that a yellow powder ... a spice ... isnt that crushed seeds?

Now to look at those suspicious looking mushies ...
