Oxley Creek Common

Back in January this urban green space area, south of the city, was under several feet of brown river water. Being close to several industrial estates, there was a worry that the chemicals from there mixed in with the flood waters but it looks like they might have dodged a bullet. The plants and wildlife are slowly returning.

Ha! I hadn't noticed that.

It's wonderful how the land can 'come back'. I'm so glad to hear that green growing things are back and the wildlife is moving in too.

Oh, I believe that sign may be missing some punctuation?

Dear Cara, I congratulate you on your blog. I am a retired priest of the Anglican Church. My next article for The Eagle, St John's Cathedral's free current affairs magazine issued three times a year, includes your excellent photo of the flood markers on the wall of Naldham House, published in Brisbane Daily Photo on June 1, 2009. I wanted to contact you before, but until today did not know how.
Belatedly I request your permission to have it reproduced, but there is still time to have it removed if you so wish. Like other contributors to The Eagle I receive no remuneration for the article, but am personally prepared to make some contribution for the use of the photo.

Hi John,

Thank-you for getting in touch. That's no problem at all you are welcome to use it for free. Can I get a copy of the magazine at the cathedral?

Hi again Cara,
Thank you so much for this privilege. Yes, copies are available any day in the Cathedral, on the literature table near the back pews. The next issue will be vol.7 no.3 designated the Winter number, and should be available within a few weeks. My 'Living History' article usually appears on the last 2 or 3 pages.
John
