As you can see, Brisbane is implementing its public bike hire scheme soon. The idea is you unlock a bike from one of these stations using your own special keycard and you can ride it to somewhere else in the city with a similar station. I'm interested to see if it will work and who will use the scheme.
The other night, workers across the city had to unceremoniously dig a whole load of these stations up because they had been cemented in the wrong way around. All good now though, I think! All we need is some bikes

We have a similar scheme in Auckland, but not via cards, it's based on mobile phone communication. I am not very often in the city, have not used it. I have taken shots of the parked bikes, will have to post.

They just started that in Chicago, but it's only in the central business/tourist district and there aren't too many of the stations as I remember reading. It sounds like a good idea, but time will tell...
