...imposters beware!Curiosity got the better of me so I googled this interesting old building on Charlotte Street in the CBD. I Love Brisbane supplied me with an explanation. It seems the "HIMSELF" bit was because John Mills, a printer, had previously been part of a business partnership. When it dissolved, he went out on his own and advertised accordingly.

ReplyDeleteThat is a terrific background to the naming of this building. I am taking quite a few shots of old facades like this, Cara. They tell a lot of the history of the area. As a matter of interest, this looks like it is facade only up the top. How come?
ReplyDeleteYes I noticed that - I'm not sure. There's definately plenty of building behind the rest of it. It looks like they have a removed a whole storey from the top.
