Here's Brisbane's newest bridge in all it's glory. Some say it's like ships' masts bobbing in the breeze, others say it's ugly and far too busy. Personally, I'm a fan. Not just from an architectural point of view but also because it provides a car-less link between West End and the city.... with plenty of pit-stops along the way to admire the view.
well, I must admit it doesn't look too bad here at night, Cara...but I am really of the "too busy" variety...sorry...too many bridges..I must be getting old!
ReplyDeleteThere does seem to be a lot of bridges, but Paris has bundles of bridges. This structure reminds me of roads and bridges scattered throughout Melbourne where the purpose of the bridge is augmented with a nod to artistic flair. Once you get the hang of it, it is quite endearing.
ReplyDeleteWe in Sydney tend to dig tunnels instead ...
I love the night time shot. And, I like the bridge.
ReplyDeleteI agree it looks like masts all askew. Very interesting foot bridge and nice to provide a route for non motorized vehicles. I think I like it.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a busy port. And I think it looks fantastic at night. Though I'm not sure whether I'd feel the same if I saw it during the day.
ReplyDeleteI love the design, lights and unexpected "ship masts" on it! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteReminds me a bit of something in London, might be the Millenium Bridge. Looks good lit up.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot Cara! I love this bridge. I just don't like the cyclists on it that whizz past at 80km/hr - they are deadly.
ReplyDeleteThe one in london is probably the fairly new hungerford foot bridge... That looks great lit up at night, especially against the background of the old industrial style train bridge it's attached to...
ReplyDeleteNice work. A much better shot than my attempt while walking past.
ReplyDeleteI reckon the key to appreciating this bridge is to look through the masts rather than directly at them.
ReplyDeleteHated it at first. Now I love it, especially viewing it through the big windows at GoMA - and especially after seeing this gorgeous photo.
